This week we chatted with Allison Madigan who is a holistic nutritionist based in Toronto West.
Why did you decide to start your own business?
I worked in the marketing world for 15 years in a fairly high stress job as VP at a marketing services company. After having my daughter the lack of balance and stress became too much. I decided that I needed to make some changes. Rather than looking for another job I decided it was a good opportunity to follow my passion and go back to school and become a holistic nutritionist. I resigned from my job and the rest is history!
What is the philosophy at Allison Madigan Nutrition?
Holistic. Healthy. Mindful.
Everything that I do focuses on these three principles.
What type of services do you offer?
I offer nutritional and coaching services to my clients. Over a few months we work closely together to achieve their goals and get them feeling their best. A lot of people I see are dealing with stress, hormonal issues or struggling with how to best nourish themselves and their family. Over time we will make dietary changes and introduce supplements to help support them best. I don’t deal in dieting – for me this is all about giving my clients the tools to lead a healthy life. It’s about a lifestyle.
I offer customized meal plans for people. They come with meals and snacks for the week as well as detailed recipes and grocery lists. It’s a great service for those who can’t yet invest the time to do a deep dive into their health. It offers healthy meals for an individual or a family customized to food preferences.
What is the most rewarding part of owning your own company?
Seeing people thrive. It is incredibly rewarding to work with people and see their energy and vitality change. Their confidence and happiness increases as a result of the work we do together and that is total fulfillment for me.
Take the leap! There is never going to be a perfect time and you are never going to be “ready”. When I resigned from my nice secure job it was the most terrifying thing I had ever done. Amazing things happen outside of your comfort zone.
